Speaking & Listening

At Wicklea, we believe speaking and listening skills are fundamental to effective communication and to the process of all learning across the curriculum. Throughout the school we cover:

• Speaking for different audiences.
• Listening and responding.
• Discussion and debate.
• Presentation, using play scripts.
• Learning and performing poetry.

We maintain the importance of speaking and listening skills as facilitators for the whole curriculum by actively encourage speaking and listening on a whole-school basis in a variety of contexts.
